Life's Reality on a Healthy Fit Life: Why the Health Conscious Still Get Sick

LIFE. I've been a health and fitness buff for decades, in fact since I was in grade school. I have researched lots of things about it and observed life's reality about a healthy fit life.

You need to keep working out, eating right and living a healthy lifestyle.

But here's reality---these things aren't guarantees that you won't get sick.

You get a better chance to live healthy and ailment-free with a healthy fit life, but you shouldn't rely on it alone. You must cling to a higher health Source. A lot of wrong things can suddenly happen despite your efforts---things no one can explain (not even medical experts)---so we need all the help we can get from Someone who is over and above us all and controls all things.

Sometimes it's a wonder why some folks who are conscious of what they eat suddenly turn out positive for gall bladder stone or high in their cholesterol levels, and things like that.

Some non-smokers and non-alcoholic drinkers I know sometimes look sicker than those who wallow in their bad vices.

How do you explain, for instance, the fact that non-smokers who inhale secondhand cigarette smoke are apt to suffer more than smokers themselves?

At times it pisses me off how I easily get the cold and cough while smokers never seem to have any problems with them. I just thank God that these days I don't catch them even if people around me sneeze and cough at me. It's all by God's grace, not my healthy fit life efforts.

Although we need to continue with a healthy fit life, no doubt. I guess this, too, falls under faith with works.

Get healthy and fit. Benefit from wellness secrets. But understand that only God brings everything to fulfillment.

Here's a sample on God's Health Plan for us:

HOW HEALTHY IS BANANA CUE? For Banana Lovers Like Me

If you're a banana lover like me, you probably love eating banana cue and turon as well. Banana cue is dip frying "saba" or cardava banana rolled in brown sugar. Turon, on the other hand, is "saba" or cardava banana wrapped in egg-roll wrapper, the type used for spring rolls, sprinkled with brown sugar. Sometimes, they even put slices of langka or jackfruit in it. SM Save More outlets sellthem for only P15 per big piece.

Anyway, if you eat these cooked bananas, what health benefit do you get? Do you get all the health benefits bananas give?

Cooked bananas give you dietary fibers, nothing more, nothing less. Well, you also get some carbohydrates from the brown sugar and fat from the cooking oil. By the way, included here is sweetened "saba" which is banana boiled in water with brown sugar and sometimes added with vanilla extract. At least with this, you eliminate cooking oil.

Bananas are supposed to be super healthy with lots of vitamins and minerals …

HEALTH BENEFITS OF PATOLA: Don't Judge a Veggie by It's Rough Look

"Pulis patola" is a term popularized in Filipino movies on supposedly lousy cops. It denotes an inept policeman trained in a far-flung province where cops know nothing except probably to eat and sleep. But in the Filipino movies, the rustic "patola" cop turns out to be a good and skillful cop who manages to ruin a powerful syndicate singlehandedly.

Thus, "patola" or sponge gourd is a common rough-looking vegetable almost nobody pays attention to (some even smirks at the sigh to fit) and considered low class vegetable. Why "sponge" gourd? The core of the fruit looks like crude sponge, but it sure doesn't taste like one. Patola is  often mixed in soups, especially plain and ordinary miswa soup to add some sweet flavor to it. It's also cheap--just perfect for anyone aiming for health and fitness with middle income budget.

Here are some of its health benefits:
It's low in calories. If you're trying to lose weight, eat more of this to …

Harvard Study Says Chicken Skin is Healthy!

You used to take off chicken skin because doctors and nutritionists said it's bad for your heart. So, with broken hearts we did so, stripping the golden brown and juicy skin from our roasted or grilled chicken and couldn't believe we were actually throwing away all that goodness into the trash.

And we wondered why God made chicken skin so delicious just so we could throw it all away.

But a new Harvard study says chicken skin is actually good for your health---to be specific, your heart health. It says most of the fatty part of chicken skin (the most mouthwatering one) is unsaturated and healthy for the heart. And that's according to studies done by the Harvard School of Public Health, no less.

Unsaturated fat can lower your cholesterol and blood pressure, the Harvard school said, according to an article on The Daily Meal site titled "Doctor's Got It All Wrong!" So, if the study is correct (I'm waiting for another "study" to contradict this---al…
