'Tis the Season to be Fat...and How to Overcome It During the Holidays

realmealrevolution.com
I and my wife went to a lot of special dinners this December, and you won't believe the kinds of delicious foods served us. Just imagine eating at Vikings Marikina.

No wonder then so many people gain weight during the holidays. Not only that, tragically, Christmas is also said to record the most number of heart attacks during the year, said an article on DFW.CbsLocal.Com titled Fatal Heart Attacks Occur on Christmas More than Any Other Day in 2014.

"Researchers, more than a decade ago, found that more fatal heart attacks occur on Christmas Day than any other day of the year," the article said. "The 2nd busiest day is December 26th and the 3rd busiest is January 1st.

"The pattern has continued for so long that health care workers coined the term 'Christmas Coronary'."

But probably more than suffering a heart attack, most people are worried about getting fatter after Christmas and New Year's. Aside from eating and drinking too much, December is also when you often feel too tired and lazy to workout. The late night occasions lead to lack of sleep that make you languid the next day and the following days.

So, what do I do to overcome getting fatter during Christmas?

The answer--simple workouts that can be done as soon as I stand up from my small office cubicle at home--or as soon as I get home and rested from massive dinner invitations. To me, the important thing is, I don't need to go to the gym for the needed workout or prepare workout equipment at home. My simple fitness system that involves no special equipment enables me to be at it quickly.

The keys to easy fitness are--it should be simple and easy, easily available, where you are.

Well, it's different of course if you aim to be Mr. Universe or The Incredible Hulk. But if you just want to be fit to live life well, then you should take a peek at my fitness system, which is ideal for cheap health and fitness with middle income budget.

Watch out for my soon coming e-book on it.

10 Reasons Why December is a Deadly Month--and How Few Folks are Aware of It

www.toxel.com
December is a festive month as well as a deadly month. And what makes it even deadlier is that most folks aren't aware of it. Here are reasons why December is a deadly month, and note how they are health and fitness related:

1. Christmas rush. Instead of slowing down because working people are about to take a long Christmas break, they actually get busier at the office than usual. Most office works, in fact, get more hectic because of the closing fiscal year. Without knowing it, people trapped in the Christmas rush suffer more from free radical damage due to over stress.

2. People get busier during Christmas "vacation." Christmas "vacation" is just a myth to most people who really get busier than usual even at home during this Season. There are lots of party invitations, so many parties to prepare foods and party programs for, so many Christmas decors to put up (and deciding the right arrangements and places for them), so many dance or song numbers to practice for--and to think that most people have to do all these in the office, church and later at home for their families. Imagine all that stress!

3. Christmas shopping. It's exhausting just to make your Christmas shopping list--what more do the shopping itself? Here in Manila, you can just imagine the horrendous traffic you have to put up with plus the incredible thick crowds of people in malls and tiangges you have to squeeze yourself into just to get a good buy. And sometimes, you need to do this more than once, even 10 times.

4. So many special foods to cook. December is when parties and festivities happen--all needing nothing but the best food menus. So people cook a lot of complicated recipes, almost daily. Before that, they need to do a lot of purchases at the grocery store and wet market. And going to these places you need to be stuck in traffic most of the time. All needless stress.

5. Lots of strains in the budget. Money in the purse and pocket seems never enough during Christmas. Even with all the 13th and 14th month salaries, bonuses and other Christmas pay perks, you just keep running out of cash every time. And it's a terrible strain to keep your budget coping up with your actual expenses--except perhaps if you're a multi-millionaire. It's a terrible headache and pressure.

6. Mostly fatty food and desserts. In December, you eat mostly fatty and spicy food and lots of desserts. And it's pointless to fight the temptation because it's everywhere. The usual justification is, it's only once a year that you get to eat super delicious foods like these. But you very well know that it's not true. You eat fatty food almost daily for one month, so it's not really just "once a year" but almost daily in this one single month of the year.

7. No time to exercise. With all that busyness, you have not time to exercise. So you store lots of fats for a month and it's doubtful if you can get them all burned up the following month. Or more aptly, can you survive all that eating for a month and still live the following month or year?

8. Less sleep. And again, with all that busyness and celebrations which mostly last till the wee hours of the night, you'd often get less healthy sleeps. Christmas Eve starts it all and it even goes on past New Year's. No, it really all starts a week before Christmas Eve. And when everything is finally over, you find the next morning that you need to start going to the office again. Lack of sleep can lead to various cardiovascular and immune problems.

9. Less water intake. Parties and celebrations tend to make us forget to drink pure water. We feel we'd miss a lot if all we drink is colorless water. So we make our drinks as colorful as possible with intoxicating beverages--and easily miss our 8 glasses of water each day. This can lead to high blood pressure, UTI or kidney troubles later, to name a few.

10. Busy with Christmas but not with Christ. The deadliest of all is to be so super busy celebrating Christ's supposed birthday without Christ himself. Even most churches fall victim to this. Fact is, "Christmas" is just an imagined day when Jesus was supposedly born, and it's all a worldly idea even the church has been duped into. The bible does say to observe or proclaim Christ's death as often as possible, but not his birth. Christmas is all the idea of commercialism, like it or not.

So, what should we do this December and at Christmas time to keep healthy and fit?

Keep everything simple. That's it. After all, it's supposed to be Jesus Christ's special day, not ours. To get a tip, look at how Jesus and his disciples celebrated the Pass Over Feast in simple ways.

5 Reasons Why You're Still Fat Even If You Exercise

www.mdlatino.com
Everyday when I go out for a jog I see them--they've been exercising for years and yet they just seem to grow bigger and their tummies more bulging. And you're probably like that, too. Why can't some people lose weight? Well probably, here are 5 reasons why you're still fat even if you exercise:

1. You're not eating well. Eating less often does not make you lose weight. It will, probably for some time, but then you'd get overweight again and probably even worse. Imagine all that sacrifice with little to zero result. To get an idea why you need to eat enough and why you need to get rid of strict diets, see this article.

2. You eat the wrong foods. There are foods that worsen your metabolism. Some even destroy it. And foods that damage metabolism (tend to slow it down), like processed foods, have the most TV ads--even billboard and newspaper ads--telling you how they're supposed to be "fortified" with vitamins and minerals. Or probably you've been eating in fast food stores. Eat home-cooked meals so you can control your salt, fat and carb intake and make sure they have zero preservatives.

3. Your body is probably toxic. Even with the right healthy foods and workouts. you won't lose weight if you are toxic. How does your body become toxic? Simple--stress. Unhealthy stress daily will make everything you do to lose weight useless. Then add to that the junk foods and drinks you take also everyday (and are added expense). Start living a really happy life, with less worries, and eating natural healthy foods.

4. Your body tends to store more fat. Some people tend to store more fat in their bodies especially around their bellies. Why? It's mostly about slow metabolism. Sometimes it runs in the family. How do you program a faster metabolism? For starters, eat a healthy breakfast daily and keep physically active. Eat fresh fruits before meals. Eat less for supper--and then take a snack 30 minutes before you go to bed at night. Why? It boosts metabolism in the morning, says two studies done at the Florida State University mentioned in an article on Health.Com. Eat before-bedtime snack limited to 150 calories.

5. Carb intolerance. Examine yourself--if you see your belly and hips growing bigger each time you eat carbs, then eat less carbs. Don't get rid of it totally, though. You also need carbs to lose weight. The trick here is to lessen. Eating 5 small meals a day instead of 3 large ones is highly recommended.

Beat Your Skin Problems Today and Start Living Life to the Full

www.incrediblesnaps.com
It's somewhat absurd but it's a fact of life--skin problems can hinder you from living life to the full if you don't know how to beat them. They tend to keep you indoors, or worse withdrawn from humanity.

And if you're not enjoying life to the full right now, your health can be direly affected. Most ailments are due to a sever lack of happiness. Mark those words.

Some skin blemishes are not that serious--some dark spots, a little bit of discoloration, some freckles, dry skin. They are problems but they're nothing like pimples or acne. Especially acne.

Acne, for instance, is not just ugly; they're painful as well. One wrong move or touch and it's a big OUCH! Then it glows an ugly red and swells. So they definitely take the zest out of your life.

What do you do?

But before that, the first question we should ask ourselves probably should be, why are we so bothered by skin problems especially on the face?

Facial skin problems seem to demolish your world. This is because your face is your "product image" to the world. Marketing and advertising experts are so keen on presenting to the world the best product image because everything hinges around it, especially how people are going to like it.

But you can create your own facial "marketing," as it were, so you can improve your "product image." It's all in the mind. Study every angle of your facial profile and see what positive aspects you can build on--even with skin problems and all. For sure, you have facial angles, sides and expressions that bring out the best in you (God has made sure everyone has them) and you have to build on them.

Likewise, see what angels, sides and expressions bring out the worse in you and learn how to get rid of them. I'm not saying you start wearing an unnatural face. Unnatural facial expressions are the worst. What I mean is weed out the bad and retain the good--and develop it.

Got it?

Anyway, going back to skin problems, with enough imagination and skills, it's easy to hide skin blemishes, even pimples and acne. To get some tips, check out my blog, Shape Well, on this.

This Shortens Life, So Avoid it at All Cost

www.linkedin.com
You not only can die young but it also cuts short your enjoyment of life. That's what we mean by saying "It shortens life."

Life is already short, but it further shortens if you let this thing rule in you--stress. And the mother of all stress is the abnormal need to achieve a lot of things. Why do they need lots of achievements? So they can be great.

Often, you pull down a lot of other people to the abyss of stress and miserable existence because of your need to be great. You're like a disaster or calamity. Where you are, a lot of innocent victims get their lives all messed up.

And these poor miserable souls are willing to be your victims because they need money to survive daily.

It seems a hopeless labyrinth with no way out.

How do you avoid this kind of stress? Is there really a way out?

There is, otherwise, God wouldn't have written this passage in His Word: "Do not become slaves of men" [1 Corinthians 7.23]

Consider these ideas:
  1. Quit desiring to be great. Greatness is unreal. It's just in people's silly imaginations that they think they can become (or are) great. "How long will you love delusions and seek false gods?" [Psalm 4.2]
True greatness is in God's hands--he decides that. It does not depend on your achievements. You may have a lot of monuments built in your honor and may stand on the highest pedestal, but in God's eyes you may be a total failure.
  2. Simplicity is power. The simpler your life is and the meeker you are, the more power you have. And that means power to live a healthy, happy and long life under God's grace. Believe me, a quiet life is better.
  3. Just live out God's Word everyday. That's it.
  4. Aim for greatness in God's kingdom, not on earth or in man's kingdom. The bible says, the least on earth is the greatest in heaven.
So why strive to be great?

Eat Everything and Lose Weight! Eat Less and Gain Weight! Here's Why!

www.womensproteinshakes.com
How would you like to eat everything--including your favorite desserts--and still lose weight?

Too good to be true? Well, perhaps if I were selling you a weight loss product to achieve this, it's probably too good to be true.

But I'm not.

It's all natural and you don't have to buy anything--cheap health and fitness with middle income budget.

In fact, the less food you eat, the harder for you to lose weight. You may even gain more weight by lessening your food intake. Ironic but it's true. And there's a scientific explanation.

It's all about Leptin. It's a protein hormone naturally produced by the body that is the main key to regulating fat storage.

Remember the word--leptin.

Leptin is why some people can't lose weight no matter how hard they try. It's also why some people just lose weight like crazy even if they eat a lot with zero exercise (probably why Jughead can eat a lot and remain slim).

Aside from exercise, you need to have a healthy supply of leptin in your body to lose weight. And to get enough of it, you need to eat enough food. You need enough carbs. Once you lessen your food intake, leptin levels drop. Then your body is unable to lose weight.

That's why skipping meals or eating less doesn't work. As I have always said, you have to eat everything in healthy proportions.

But you can't also be eating like a glutton all day everyday and expect leptin to keep you slim. Common sense will tell you, it's got to be balanced diet.

So I recommend you eat balanced everday (skipping no meal or avoiding no food except processed food) and then have a cheat day once a week. A cheat day is when you eat all you can. That raises your leptin levels. Then go average again after that. But do increase your carbohydrates intake a little bit more each day as you approach cheat day.

I said a little bit each day, okay? Apply common sense to that.

And avoid processed food and processed meat at all cost. They trigger leptin resistance--a condition when your body doesn't respond anymore to the hormone.
