11 Sites for Virtual Appointment Setter Jobs

What do you need to be a work-from-home (WFH) virtual appointment setter (VAS)? Nothing but imagination, guts and a doer spirit. High school or college dropouts may try if they have the three qualities mentioned. Better if you have college degrees and some webinar training conducted by appointment setter (AS) experts. English literacy? If you're not that confident with your English, try chat-only AS.

How do you become an appointment setter? Attend paid webinar trainings. Well, first you attend a free webinar where they give you intros and ideas about the job and hints about how much you make per hour in US dollars. But to get to the nitty gritty of the job, you need a paid webinar which usually includes personal coaching that later helps you land on a job and hit your first appointment setting. How much is the webinar? Somewhere from 5k to 8k. Or more.

Or you can do it on your own if you're an adventurer who likes to learn hit or miss. To get some basics, study some Youtube videos on it. I'd say watch intently 5 videos before you launch. As you apply for work and do the job you'd learn along the way until you master everything in due time. Sometimes you need to reinvent the wheel or invent to improve on the wheel everyone's acquainted with. Sample videos below.

Here's full training on the basics.

What's an appointment setter?

Simply put, you contact people from your prospect list and set them for an appointment with your boss. Your boss does the selling. In some AS arrangements, you get a commission per prospect you send to your boss that buys. That's on top of your basic pay, which is somewhere around $5 to $10 an hour. Or more.

Where do you get a boss? You apply to them as their VAS. Where?
What do you need to apply? Send your best resume, application letter and portfolio to the employers. I mean, do your best to come up with the best you can manage. If you're a high school or college dropout, put in your best relevant work experiences and job skills. If you don't have any experience yet, write the best application letter (along with your resume) you can compose and explain how you're willing to do everything that it takes to do the job position.

Here's what you should do. Send your resume, letter and portfolio to 10 employers a day. Do this for 25 days. That's a total of 250 applications to 250 employers. That should do it. If you still don't get hired, do it again next month. And again. And again. Until you hit 3 WFH part-time VAS jobs. If each job pays you $5 an hour and you work 4 hours each, you get a total of $1,200 a month or Php 66,000 just working from home part-time. Not bad. You have plenty of free time left.

What You Need to Know about Freelancing and Virtual Jobs

What do you do if you're running a small business in the US or any developed country, and your business is doing well so that running it alone becomes too burdensome for you? You hire an assistant. But paying an employee a minimum wage plus social security will be too much for a fledgling business. So you look for cheap labor. Where? Offshore, in some developing or underdeveloped country, like the Philippines, where a pay of US$ 500 to 1,000 a month is A LOT.

What's 1,000 dollars in the US? That's almost nothing, especially if your rent is 700 dollars a month, which would be rent for a small room. But here in the Philippines, that translates to Php 56k a month. Because you are a freelancer, the employer in the US can forget about your SS and other benefits required by law. You, Pinoy, are happy and content with your US$ 1,000, and your employer is happy with the cheap salary he is paying you.

That's freelancing and virtual job in the Philippines which have the potential to gradually and quietly create an underground economic boom very soon. A lot of freelancers who have become experts at this make something like US$ 3k to US$ 5k a month, and sometimes that's just for one client. Some freelancers manage to handle more than one.

Here's what astounds me about this. High school or college dropouts are making big money here, so are folks with carabao English. You would think that a gig like this requires good English. Nope. Because it's mostly scripted. I mean the appointment setter gig. You schedule prospects for appointments so sellers can meet with them. You do this solely on the chat box where you copy-paste most of your responses. So, no need to talk to anyone face-to-face in English.

Other freelancing or virtual jobs involve light tasks like emailing, filing, documenting, chatting, and typing or encoding. Other heavier stuff include content writing, copywriting, graphic arts, video editing, admin assistance, and accounting, among other things. But all these generally eats up only about 3 to 4 hours of their time everyday. No wonder some freelancers can do 2 to 3 clients simultaneously and make US$ 5k a month or Php 280,000. A MONTH.

And these are high school dropouts. 😕

Some folks look for fulltime jobs with dollar monthly pays as employees of a US or multinational company, working from home (WFH). Well, it's either WFH all the time or reporting for work just a few times. Some work remotely (another term for WFH) for Pinoy companies getting paid Php 30k to Php 70k a month minus the hassles of daily commute.

Definitely, the employment landscape is slowly but surely transforming and freelancing and virtual jobs will soon eliminate or delete traditional employment, and this is not to mention trends in online e-commerce and drop shipping. And what about the slow rise of affiliate marketing?

New, Proven Tactics to Beat Job Interviews and Get Hired in Cool Ways

The trend today is being interviewed online through Zoom or Gmeet. I will discuss this in a later blog article. Still, there are companies who want to meet you in person aside from the biodata you sent through email. How do you beat face-to-face interviews?

Photo by Van Tay Media on Unsplash.

I'd put it more directly---how do you beat interviewers at their own game?

I've been into interviews for decades both as an applicant and an interviewer and yes, interviews are nothing but a game. Take them seriously but don't take them seriously 😅. Na-gets mo? I mean, interviews never killed anybody or totally wrecked careers or lives, so don't worry. Just prepare enough and then thoroughly relax during interview proper. Play with the interviewer while observing some interview decorum. The trick is to come up with a balance between the two---playing the game and being a bit serious about it, too.

Just a bit serious. We don't want to annoy interviewers with your drama.

Now here is the main thing. I have an e-book on how to beat interviewers at their own game, even making them play somewhat by your rules. You may even turn the tables and interview them or set the interview atmosphere to your liking. You call the shots, at the same time making the interviewer feel good, comfortable with you and in control of the whole thing.

It's a win-win situation. And it's not just my opinion or theory. Get the rest of the story in my e-book. This e-book (picture above) is based on my actual experiences as applicant and interviewer, being part of the hiring team of a big company, once upon a time. And I add some actual stories I heard from other interviewers and applicants. It's FREE!

How to get my FREE e-book? Simply email me at choyscut@gmail.com. You'd get a reply back in about 10 to 20 seconds with a link you click on to get to the free PDF download. You may opt to donate some money via my GCash to support my independent house church ministry, but don't worry. With or without donations you may get your FREE copy of the 50-page e-book and start conquering F2F job interview appointments. Bilisan mo na 😄. Wag na magisip.

Using Your Weakness for Power

Failures, frustrations, disappointments, fall-shorts, bad looks and even illnesses. Why does God allow them? If I had a sick dog I'd lose no time to take it to the veterinary clinic for a quick remedy. You can't stand seeing your pet suffering there continuously, can you? So why do some "bad lucks" linger and keep you failing at what you do and seem to do so forever? There must be a reason.

Photo by Japhin John on Unsplash.

And it should be a valid reason. The good news is, there is. Everything has a purpose, even negative things. Or perhaps I should say, especially negative things. Good things served you on a silver platter is all the reward you'd get. Nothing more will follow. Adversities, however, have bonuses, perks, incentives and residual benefits if you know how to use them. You must learn how to use your weakness for power.

Take advantage of your helplessness, unfitness, powerlessness, indisposition or low station in life. They're put there because God wants you to have power. The bible says "power is made perfect in weakness," and this is why we should feel blessed to be weak, despised, rejected or all of the above. For the bible adds, "When I am weak, then I am strong." No wonder Jesus emphasized how "the least among you is the greatest."

My book below will tell you more. Just click the image for details.

So much emphasis is on leadership today, so we see leadership seminars left and right and people eagerly grabbing seats. Everyone wants to be a leader because everyone wants position and power. I wonder why there are no followership seminars for leaders when the fact is good leaders should first be good followers.

Anyway, God is serious about his business of making the least the greatest through power in weakness. That's what true success is all about. It's not about advantages, positions, connections, money, possessions, titles or degrees. So if you think you're a loser or failure, you're blessed and favored if you see things as God sees them and act and live accordingly.

Through experience, I'm telling you there's nothing like using your weaknesses for power.

Why You are Not Efficient

Most folks will say they're both--hardworking and efficient--or at least believe they should be. But efficiency really eliminates hard work. Hard work often loses sight of the goal and focuses on the work itself, instead of figuring out a way to get things done the smartest way possible. Being work-focused often make work harder than it really is.

Being efficient is different. You weed out backbreaking, stupid work, effort or processes, get to the point and focus on what really is essential. Most hard workers think doing tiring, arduous work is productive. Efficient workers opt not just for productivity but especially success  at hitting targets with minimal hard work, cutting long, stupid processes short with common sense and diligence, choosing the simplest and most effective ways to accomplish things. Efficiency means less work.

Investopedia says:

The term efficiency can be defined as the ability to achieve an end goal with little to no waste, effort, or energy. Being efficient means you can achieve your results by putting the resources you have in the best way possible. Put simply, something is efficient if nothing is wasted and all processes are optimized.

In short, efficient people get straight to the point, what really needs to be done here, and do just that. Like in church ministries, for instance. Efficient believers do what God wants done as Jesus had done it in the Gospel---because he is the epitome of success in God's eyes. The rest we add or invent as "church works" are garbage.

Diligence is a key idea here. Here's what I gathered from Google. Diligence is "careful and persistent work or effort," which is different from plain hard work. Diligence is carefully choosing only what gets the job done and being persistent with that, trashing what is wasteful, irrelevant and unnecessary.

It's also "steady, earnest (strong desire) and energetic effort." Diligence is powered by vision, inspiration and enthusiasm while hard work is often a drab, done only to finish a task and get paid or please people.

Another idea is "devoted and painstaking work," where painstaking is "done with or employing great care and thoroughness," or being "meticulous."

Last is "assiduity," which is "constant or close attention to what one is doing."

These definitions may sound like what hard work is, but they really refer more to efficiency and diligence which always opt for simpler and more effective ways of working and getting the job done in the best manner.

Mass Production is Not Always Success

Producing a lot does not always equate to success. Big or large or many does not always mean better. The path to destruction, says Jesus, is broad and wide, "and many enter through it." The point here is not to produce as little as possible, but to not think that big and numerous is always a success---because people blinded by mass production (or, in ministry, those oriented to the mind of the world) always has this perspective. As long as you produce a lot, you're okay.

Hard work forgets about innovation and creativity and sticks doggedly to a traditional, boring pattern. Often, blind hard work establishes its own idea of "smartness" and "efficient work" based on a narrow-minded concept of what success is. It thinks that anything done hard is successful. Anything that costs you sleepless nights and overstress is "success." Hard work is plain work, period. Drudgery. Sticking to a fed program like a robot. Hard work was what God gave Adam and Eve after they proved inefficient with plain and simple obedience and opt to do things the hard way.

So, are you hardworking or efficient?

Pursuing Your Own Brand of Success

If it's not your own brand of success, it's NOT worth pursuing. Believe me. You cannot have others' success if you don't share their passion and you're just pursuing their success for the sake of having success. Stop that and look inside you--what really is your passion. What sets your heart on fire? If you do this, it's your brand of success.

Photo by Jad Limcaco on Unsplash.

Success comes in various definitions. You should define yours. If you have found yourself and have done quality consultations with your Maker--GOD--then you should be able to define your own brand of success. Pursue it and live happily ever after. That's genuine success. You find real fulfillment, peace and contentment. You find true happiness.

This is why I believe defining one's own brand of success is vital at school. This means kids have to discover what they really want to do in life as early as preschool and teachers should help them achieve that. Basic Rs (reading rithmitic and writing) are needed, but kids should also be helped with discovering themselves. This cannot happen in one sitting, of course, so it should be gradual but progressive--from grade school, high school to college.

4 MUSTS OF SUCESS! Click here.

And this is also why grades and honors mean nothing to me. Just this morning, I met a guy online who dropped out of college but later ended up a successful content and blog writer making big money. And he's even a mentor and webinar host and presentor. Imagine what more could've happened if he had discovered this talent early on in college or even high school.

Some students may be poor in academics but good in other areas not yet covered by traditional academics--and I'm not just talking about multiple intelligence (MI). MI is still limited to what traditional education offers. So while students fail in traditional schools and develop insecurities and low self-esteem, they're forfeited their right to excel in their own field of interest. Only later in life do they discover their real design and start out late, with all those wasted years in school when they were made to run a race not designed for them.

I was good at drawing cartoons and writing funny and mystery stories since grade school. I was also quite interested in wildlife survival. Unfortunately, these talents had no place in academics. They taught other things in Art and Language subjects that didn't help me develop my talent. For instance, I didn't have interest in grammar because it was taught in a way that didn't tickle my interest. It was dead boring and made me sacred of failing more than inspired me about learning. It was like the uniform we were all made to wear everyday. If you didn't wear it, you wouldn't be allowed inside the school. It's that silly.

But thank God it's not too late. You can still make up and catch up. You may be doing a job which does not really interest you or draw out your passions. You're doing it just for the salary and benefits. You know what you're doing? You're trying to share in your boss' brand of success. Well, he is successful and wealthier. I doubt if you are, too.

Decide now and ask yourself. What do you really want to do in life? What sets your heart on fire? If given all the money you need for free, would you still do your present job? Or would you do something else that you find truly meaningful?

HOW TO EASILY HONE YOUR VOICE: You Want to be a YouTube or FB Singing Sensation?

Asia's Got Talent
It's incredible how talent shows online, like Asia's Got Talent, have opened up opportunities for even simple folks of various age levels to have their talents discovered--especially in singing. Others simply tried their luck on YouTube and got a million followers--and that started their careers then and there.

I've been meaning to produce several video demos and lessons on SIMA streetfighting techniques but can't find enough time these days because I have lots of blogging deadlines for clients. But I'm eagerly planning to, soon. Who knows--I might end up an online streetfighting self-defense tutor sensation.

You may feature your fire-breathing or sword-swallowing talent, but the safest and most popular is singing. It's for general patronage--you can build a following from people from all walks of life. Some talents attract only a small segment of viewers, especially talents that are more stressful than entertaining. In this field, singing is unbeatable.

Do you know how to sing? I can sing well, owing much to my love for it in my younger years (I learned by simply following songs on the radio, and God also gave me a pair of ears sensitive to notes) and my choir activities in church in college. But I'm not much into taking videos of myself singing as I am of myself teaching self-defense.

But you can improve your singing (or start developing a skill for it from now on) through the easy availability of singing tutorials online. The Internet has made a lot of things easily possible in our time. And you can start preparing for a singing career (or just make it a worthwhile hobby) by learning online. No need to go out of the house to a singing workshop and be pestered by traffic and exhausting travels. Just learn in the comforts of your home.

If you're serious about this, try seeing this FREE video and get some ideas!

HOW TO BUILD YOUR OWN BEAUTIFUL BLOG NOW: Put Your Person on Your Site

Nice blog for you!
There's nothing like having your own blog--either for personal or business purposes. Well, personal blogs can always be monetized anytime you want. But a business blog makes things more specific for your niche marketing.

Anyway, a good blog needs terrific blog templates. Templates are patterns that you fill up with contents, like articles, pictures, banners, and videos. Templates are structures or frameworks where you place your finishing designs and decors, so to speak.

However, after designing your blog with a fit template and contents, it still needs to be put live online so people can access it via the Internet. So you need hosting for it. Hosting is what makes your blog visible on the Net and accessible by people online. You need both template and hosting for a complete live blog.

Now, you don't have to look far and wide. Just check this hosting company out--A Small Orange. It provides you fascinating WordPress templates (they are easy to use and result to striking blog designs) and helps you choose your domain name (the name and URL of your blog). HOW DO YOU EFFECTIVELY GET RID OF FEAR? How Fear is a Choice

There are people who opt not to be happy. Have you seen a guy who refuses to laugh even if he feels like it? I've seen lots of them. They have found an effective way to get rid of happiness or laughter from their lives.

Have you seen a ruthless guy who'd stop at nothing just to get what he wants? We've seen criminals who have no qualms about the wrongs they do. They don't feel sorry or feel regret about what they did. They even manage to enjoy them.

Somehow, these people have found a way or "system" to control their emotions so they can perform better at what they do. Now, why don't we get the system and make it work for us? For instance, why don't we use the system to control or get rid of fear when it doesn't help us in times of emergency.

Example--you witness a holdup or shooting incident right before your eyes and you freeze in shock and don't know what to do because fear keeps you from thinking right. Or, a bully humiliates you and you can't do anything about it because of fear. Or, your boss tells you to do a crucial business presentation but you stutter and perspire a lot because of fear.

Now, why does fear seem impossible to control in these cases? And how do people who are able to control their emotions do so for bad purposes?

Without being aware of it, these people use a system regularly to fight off emotions they don't like. And they become successful with consistent practice. It's a system that uses mental conditioning and discipline.

Emotions are choices. You cannot automatically love or hate anyone--you have to choose to do it. I used to hate the bitter taste of amplaya (bitter melon) but my dad kept saying how nutritious it was so I taught myself to love it. And after years of practice, I now naturally love eating amplaya--fruit and leaves.

I used to have crushes on a lot of pretty girls when I was in high school and college. But when I saw their bad characters, I decided I didn't like them, and that was how it turned out. No sweat.

I found out, emotions can be controlled and manipulated. Why not use it to your advantage and for your own good? Why not use the system to get rid of unhelpful fear, for instance.

I believe strongly in prayer and using God's power for casting out fear and I use it. But not all people believe this. Instead, they can believe in something practical and intellectual--people like being "intellectual" than "religious." So they'd buy this idea.

In my many years of training and teaching Filipino streetfighting arts and working with difficult bosses and doing public speaking, I have developed a system for getting rid of fear (it's in an e-book). If some people can do it to mean harm, why not use it to reach your full potentials?

IF WE'RE AVID BOXING FANS: Why Not Adopt a Boxer's Routine?

boxercisedublin.com
They say Pinoys love boxing, especially if it's about Pacman. National highways like EDSA suddenly turn empty and abandoned and busy districts become ghost towns because everybody's busy watching and hollering for Manny. Even criminals are said to take the day off to witness Pacman's fight.

And we marvel at boxers' strength, physique, and punching power. We're astonished at their discipline to stay on tiptop shape and health and how they stick to no less than rigid healthy diets and lifestyles. They workout regularly and we love to watch how they actually do it.

It's all near phenomenal--our amazement and interest for professional boxing.

Unfortunately, it's all admiration. In actual life, we go on with unhealthy lifestyles--no exercise, unhealthy eating, zero discipline, plenty of vices, staying late at night, etc. Aren't sports heroes there to "inspire" us. Pacman often sings: "Para sayo ang laban na 'to." These heroes supposedly put their lives on the line for us--to inspire and entertain us.

Well, is it working?

Probably, we can glean the answer from how the Philippines is still the favorite dumping site of giant multinational cigarette companies in the world. While other countries ban all cigarette ads, they're welcome in this country, just as long as they admit that cigarettes can kill. Liquor also still sell well here as well as all junk foods and softdrinks. Where's boxing's inspiration here?

I'm an avid boxing fan (I like boxing as a fitness sport, not a way of hurting someone seriously just to prove your a champ, even in the name of the country's honor) so I take care of my body well. I run, build my body up athletically, eat healthy, drink all-natural health drinks, shadow box and spar because I'm inspired by how disciplined and healthy boxers are.

In short, I'm a true avid fan of boxing and I make it a lifestyle. Others are mere fakes that shout hooray only when watching major world boxing bouts but live the complete opposite of what inspiration boxing brings--and yet they talk about boxing like they're experts at it.

HOW TO TAP INTO THE HIDDEN BOLDNESS IN YOU: The Imagination for Success

pixshark.com
God is fair and he put great abilities and gifts in each of us to make us all competitive in life. We all have the potential to succeed, each in his own field. God didn't create anyone to fail forever. Yeah, learning from failures is vital key to real success but no one is doomed to fail all his or her life. That I can be sure of--a Choy's Cut you can count on.

The only problem is how to tap the hidden boldness in you, the daring to take risks and keep on until you succeed, no matter the times you failed. That boldness is often hidden deep inside, especially for those who were created with a quiet disposition and are meek and too patient. Some, on the other hand, are too pessimistic to believe--due to unfortunate experiences in life--and they can't see themselves achieving anything great in their lives.

Some get too confident and lose everything, all the while deluded into thinking what great successes they are.

We all have the capacity to be brave and daring--and succeed at it. But first, we have to do some things.

Believe it: It won't happen till we believe and grab it for ourselves. Imagine if you had a full resource of boldness and daring in you more than enough to succeed in life, just waiting to be discovered, but you never used it because you never believed you had it. You never tried. You should first believe it, see yourself in your mind actually wielding boldness, daring, and success.

Be ready to fail: Prepare to succeed but be ready to fail as well. Failures, aside from being stepping stones to success, are really powerful suctions that siphon off talents and potentials buried deep within you and put on the surface. You'll never know what you've got in you till you're tested through fire like pure gold. You transform and become tough material for great accomplishments.

Never give up: It's an overused cliche but we have to keep saying it--never give up! Even people close to you may discourage you out of sincere concern. But you know what you want. Don't let other people forfeit you of your unique success. As long as it's not sin and it's not against God's Word, pursue it to the end, even if no success seems visible at the moment.

Pursue your own success: God designed us for different purposes. Some people may have somewhat the same or connected purposes so they easily understand and compliment each other, but others are for purposes completely different. Sometimes even strange and seemingly foolish. If you know deep in your heart that God put that purpose in you, pursue it and succeed in it. You're a path finder hacking your way to new frontiers which others soon will follow.

One thing I must warn you about--never be arrogant, self-conceited, or self-centered. Success or its pursuit can destroy a person if he or she is not a good steward of life. Remain simple and meek, considering others better than yourself, as you tap the hidden boldness in you to pursue your true potentials.

Choy's Cut is Mine: Time to Celebrate!

Wow! Praise God! Choy's Cut is now mine. It's a paid and registered blog site. It's now officially with URL address www.choyscut.com. Not anymore www.choyscut.blogspot.com. It's my first time to own a blog with my name on it.

Owning a website or blog site is like owning real estate property. That's why it's called an online domain with an address. You actually own a "property" on the Net and you "build" a house there, which is your blog, with structures and frameworks which are web templates. So now, I have a virtual residence, a house where I can secure my home. You'll find my home on the menu board. And you're all always welcome to visit.

Advantages of Owning Your Blog

Free blogs are good. I started with them and learned a lot about setting up websites and blogs using them. From scratch, I learned how to use website tools and templates and how to fix them to compose a site that has my imprint on it. Imagine how I did when I was just starting. The Internet was new to me and I always wondered how websites worked.

The first time I tried free sites was when I used webs.com and wordpress.com. I always ended up with funny looking blogs because I didn't understand how they worked and how to use their special tools. Then I discovered blogger.com which had simpler features suitable for newbies like me. I learned a lot, especially when the dynamic templates were introduced on blogspot and customization was easy but gave your blog sophisticated looks.

All from Scratch

I familiarized myself with website designs through the three free hosting sites and soon I could make a complete website with 2 or 3 articles in 30 minutes or so. To think that when I started, I didn't have any background on it. Well, I must thank Eric Holmlund and his Eric's Tips blog for giving me my first lessons on website making and affiliate marketing. It was tough learning by just following written instructions and watching videos.

Most of all, it was all God. I prayed and God led me to do all those accomplishments, learning things pretty much on my own without a mentor physically present beside me for guidance, except the "physical" presence of God, so to say. Thank you Lord for all this!

Why Webinars are Something Else

exacttarget.com
Ever attended a webinar? It's an online seminar you attend in real time by simply accessing a website. It's amazing--you attend a seminar while in the comforts of home sitting comfortably in front your desktop, laptop, or what-have-you. But you feel the presence of hundreds or thousands others in the webinar like all of you were in the same lecture room.

Can you imagine that? You skip the hassles of waking up early to beat the gargantuan traffic ahead just to make it on time to the seminar. All you have to do is wake up, wash your face, take your breakfast to your desktop, switch on your PC and "attend" the seminar. My dad didn't see this. He would've marveled and preferred it over traditional seminars. He was often invited as speaker to journalism seminars.

Actually, when we were kids, we had imagined something like this. Remember? When we played hi-tech, sci-fi imaginary games, we had come across this idea in our thoughts--communicating with people far away from you through some tiny television monitor and interacting with them, like what we saw on Star Trek. We all had dreamed about this. And now it's here. And it's become common. Familiarity breeds contempt. So, if you always see it, you stop marveling about it.

Webinars are now common to me--but somehow, they still amaze me now and then. You know why? You see, right now, as I'm doing this blog article, I'm also "attending" a marketing webinar--and taking my breakfast! You save a lot of time doing worthy things, and you're practically just enjoying them. Sometimes, I "attend" webinars while working out physically. You train yourself in mutli-tasking and that can be brain health for you.

There are also replay videos of webinars which enable you to pause while you attend to other matters or replay parts of the videos in case you need clarification.

I think schooling in general will one day evolve into webinars (or webschools?) when road traffic problems become helpless and people become super fanatics about saving time.

You Need a New Job? Here's How to Get It and Prepare for It

www.abrjobs.com
You think you need a new job? You want to get out of that company you're working for now and start a new adventure somewhere else? If you think you deserve it (and perhaps you do), then here's what I suggest.

When I was still doing jobs, I decided to transfer company several times. And with God's help, I was able to do that. It was an adventure--you never know what would happen or even if another company would indeed take you in. To make matters worse, I had no school credentials--even a fake diploma--to show for it. I just handed my resume, that's all. I often got big points to my credit during interviews. I enjoyed interviews so much.

To get a new job, you should do 2 main things first:
  1. You should be confident about it. In my case, I prayed to God for the confidence.
  2. You should be good at talking fluently and writing well. It's easy when you pray and practice.
Practice, practice, practice!

Next, don't be choosy with job position. What I did was to search the classified ads and cut out everything that I could do--marketing, PR, writing, training, office works, call center jobs, etc. I sent my resume to all the job openings that fitted me--regardless of position--and prayed. Out of 10 to 20 applications, I would get 2 to 3 calls and report excitedly. You see, attitude is a major thing here. You have to be positive and excited.

If this week nothing happens, then get excited about what would happen next week. And so on, until you land on a new job. Job hunting is easy if you level up on your skills. and you need to focus on only four things:
  • Talking skills (being fluent in speaking English and Tagalog)
  • Writing skills
  • Typing skills
  • Analytical skills
You master these things and keep advancing in them, you'd always get the job you want--even if you transfer companies now and then.

5 Ways to Prepare to Get the Job You Want

glassdoor.com
Imagine, without any transcript or school credentials to back me up, I got the managerial jobs I wanted when I used to apply for jobs. While most people were so problematic about applying for jobs and especially the interview, I was enjoying all of them. You know what their real problems was? The inability to express themselves well in English, both oral and written.

They had the best credentials in the world, a lot better than what I put in my resume. But when interview time and exams came, their results negated all their excellent school records. And it wasn't that they couldn't speak in English or answer the interview and exam questions. Their problem was speaking and writing confidently.

You see, without the needed self confidence (or too much of it), everything else tends to debacle. You stutter and say and write silly things about yourself. And you look like you're interrogated than talking professionally with the interviewer. In fact, with the right self confidence, you can even put the interviewer in an insecure situation without meaning to with how you present yourself well. It happened to me a lot of times--interviewers ending up being the interviewees.

To avoid being too confident and ending up with welling pride, learn to be meek and nice. Check my article on this by visiting this link!

So, here are my 5 ways to prepare to get the job you want:

1. Read a lot! While yet in college, I read lots of books. I always read newspapers cover to cover and loved analyzing editorials. I saved part of my allowance to buy good books. Later, when I began earning money on the side from my drafting skills while still in college (I was also a working student), I bought more books. If you encounter a new word, look it up in the dictionary to enrich your vocabulary and learn how to pronounce them right. Read, read, read!

2. Talk a lot to Yourself! Ever heard of soliloquy? I got the habit from my dad who always talked to himself verbally. He spoke out how he'd explain a subject matter and even entertained questions from his "audience," his imagined audience, that is, because he was also a public speaker. I soliloquized a lot, talking to myself as I faced the mirror and correcting any bad mannerisms or facial expressions. I also imagined talking to an interviewer or facing a big audience. I made it a point to speak clearly and pronounce words correctly. Later, I tested my speaking skills with people I met, then much later, to audiences of various sizes. I'm telling you, it does wonders to how you perform in any job interviews. Piece of cake. While still in college and fresh out of it, I was already a job interview master, by God's grace.

3. Write a lot! You may say, "I'm not a writer." Well, neither was my mom, but she wrote a lot! She kept this diary where she wrote in English. The habit developed her writing ability, grammar, and even the way she spoke. Writing makes you naturally write and speak English with good grammar. I picked up the habit of doing diaries (and now blogs) and wrote a lot, until I just found myself able to write so well that I put several of my college professors in an insecure position with my essays without meaning to. Even when doing researches and class oral reports, I enjoyed them so much while all my classmates found them daunting.

In fact, I got excellent grades during our thesis deliberations, all because of my love for reading and writing, which are all by God's grace. Everything is because God is good and great!

4. Exercise regularly! A lot of people, even most of those who give advices on job interviews, don't connect physical conditioning with speaking ability especially during job interviews. But there is a direct relationship between them. Nervousness is among your worse enemies during job interviews, and if you don't exercise regularly, controlling your heart beat can be a problem.

I've been an exercise buff, so a job interview or exam was never a big deal to me. I was always calm, enjoyed everything, and thought clearly. My heart beat and BP were always normal. Nervousness can rattle you up especially with timed exams. But with good health and fitness, your brain and nervous system function well. And by the way, being fit makes you stand, walk and sit more confidently. You wear clothes well, too.

5. Eat right! Being overweight takes away a lot of points from your interview rate. So make it a habit to exercise and eat right. And eat healthy food, especially for brain health and memory enhancement. Fish (salmon, mackerel, and tuna for instance) and nuts (peanuts, walnuts, macadamia, almonds, pistachio) are good, as well as green leafy vegetables (spinach, broccoli, and camote tops), sunflower seeds, avocado, berries, and lean meat.

Remember, the 5 tips here are preparations way before a job interview and exam. Don't do them the night before. They won't work overnight. You have to be doing them for at least 6 months or more to benefit well from them. especially reading, writing, and exercise. Make them your habits.
